Brett Shane Bernstein, CFP®
Managing Partner

Brett Bernstein is a Managing Partner and co-founding Partner of the XML Financial Group, a wealth management and financial planning firm in Rockville, Maryland. Mr. Bernstein serves as the firm’s Chief Operation Officer, head of operations, and leads the firm’s estate and trust transactions. Previously, he was a Senior Financial Advisor at Merrill Lynch, where he was designated Sales Manager for a complex that managed over $5 billion in assets. Brett was named one of the Top Board Presidents of the Year by BoardRoom magazine for his service as President at the Lakewood Country Club in Rockville, Maryland back to back years. BoardRoom magazine annually recognizes the world’s top private club presidents for their outstanding work, their understanding of the industry and role and responsibilities of the club’s board of directors (January 31, 2012/January 31, 2013).

Education & Philanthropy
Prior to becoming a certified financial wealth management consultant, Mr. Bernstein earned his Bachelor of Science degree in finance from the University of Maryland’s Robert H. Smith School of Business and continued his education at Georgetown University. He has been a volunteer for the CERTIFIED FINANICAL PLANNER Board of Standards, Inc. Board of Examiners. Brett is the Past-President of the Board of Directors for the Lakewood Country Club and has been is membership chairman and Vice President. He is the Vice Chairman of the GW Cancer Institute Advisory Board and the President of So What Else charity and he has previously served on the EagleBank Foundation Golf Committee.

Robert D. Kantor, ARPC
Managing Partner
Robert Kantor is a Managing Partner and co-founding Partner of the XML Financial Group. Mr. Kantor serves as the firm’s Chief Compliance Officer. He also serves as the head of the firm’s investment committee, which drives asset allocation strategies and investment securities section. Previously, he was a Assistant Vice President at Merrill Lynch, where he specialized in custom retirement plan design. He also served on the Advisory Counsel to Management and was a founder of the Charity Giving Committee.

Before becoming a financial consultant, Mr. Kantor received a Bachelor of Science degree in business management from the University of Maryland’s Robert H. Smith School of Business and continued his education through the Society of Administrators and Record Keepers earning the title of Accredited Retirement Plan Consultant. Rob has served as a board member for both Lakewood Country Club as well as the National Capital Area Alzheimer’s Association. He has also chaired the golf committees for both the Amity Club of Washington and Lakewood Country Club. He has served as a Lakewood Country Club board member and sits on the Board of the National Capital Area Alzheimer’s Association.

John M. Finigan, Jr.
President, Finigan Financial Services, LLC
an XML Financial Group company

John Finigan has been helping people with their financial planning needs for more than 40 years. After a career in the U.S. Army, Mr. Finigan joined Edward Jones as a financial consultant. In 2002 he started his own firm, Finigan Financial Services, LLC, now an XML Financial Group company. He provides clients with a comprehensive, full service financial planning and asset management.

Education & Philanthropy
Mr. Finigan has a Master of Business Administration from Florida Institute of Technology and holds a bachelor’s degree in Finance & Banking from Seattle University. He has served in a variety of offices for community and service organizations, including club president for Rotary International and vice-president for the Metro Washington DC Chapter of the International Association for Financial Planning (FPA). He is an Investment Advisor Representative (Series 65) with LPL Financial and also holds the Series 7 and 63 securities registrations through LPL Financial. He also maintains Life, Health and variable annuity insurance licenses.

Jason Elliot Klopman, CFP®
Mr. Klopman is a Senior Financial Consultant with XML Financial Group and has been in the financial services industry for the past five years. His specialty revolves around financial planning and asset allocation strategies. Through his training with one of Wall Street’s largest financial institutions and then XML Financial Group, Mr. Klopman acquired the necessary skills to help continue to build XML Financial Group’s practice. He is a key component to the analysis, preparation and implementation elements of the financial planning process.

Education & Philanthropy
Mr. Klopman graduated from the University of Maryland’s Robert H. Smith School of business with a Bachelor of Science degree in finance. He then went on to continue his education with Kaplan University, completing requirements to sit before the Certified Financial Planners Board of Standards to obtain his CFP® designation. Mr. Klopman volunteers at various food drives for MANNA Foodbank and supports the American Diabetes Association.

Kevin Patrick Peters
Financial Consultant
Managing Partner

Mr. Peters has been in the financial services industry for the past ten years, specializing in Life Insurance, Disability Insurance, Long-Term Care and Estate Planning, as well as a variety of Business Insurance Planning. While working at one of the industry’s largest insurance companies, Mr. Peters hired, trained, and developed new insurance professionals and assisted them in growing their businesses and becoming financial advisors. During that time, Mr. Peters also helped small and medium-sized local businesses develop design comprehensive benefits plans. With a strong desire to provide his clients with independent insurance planning recommendations, Mr. Peters established his own independent insurance company in 2003, Benefits Insurance Group, Inc., which would eventually merge with XML Financial Group to become XML Insurance Group.

Education & Philanthropy
Mr. Peters is one of the founding members of the Washington, DC metropolitan chapter of the National Aging In Place Council (NAIPC), which assists in providing education and resources to the local aging population. Additionally, Mr. Peters serves as the President of the Board of Directors for a local non-profit organization in Washington, DC, the Kingman Boys and Girls Club. Mr. Peters attended the University of Maryland where he graduated with a degree in Government and Politics.

Jonathan C. Lowe
Senior Financial Consultant
Mr. Lowe has been in the financial services industry for fourteen years. He specializes in financial planning and asset management. Mr. Lowe started his career at Moors & Cabot Inc, before joining Wheat First Securities, which later became Wachovia Securities. Working at Wachovia for five years, Mr. Lowe partnered with a team that specialized in working with international organizations such as the World Bank, the IMF – International Monetary Fund, and the OAS – Organization of American States. In 2005, he left Wachovia and joined Ryan Beck which later became Stifel Nicolaus. In August of 2009, Mr. Lowe joined XML Financial Group.

Education & Philanthropy
Mr. Lowe sits on the Community Leadership Board for the American Diabetes Association Washington, DC. He is the founding member and Chairman of the Board for the TJ-JL Foundation Inc., a local 501c3 supporting the American Diabetes Association, the JDRF – Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, and the DRWF – Diabetes Research and Wellness Foundation. Jon sits on the board for The C.L.A.Y. Foundation (advocates for swim instruction, CPR training, AED availability and a year round warm water swim facility). Jon recently became a member of the MCCC – Montgomery County Chamber of Commerce. Mr. Lowe volunteers regularly for such groups as the Joslin Diabetes Center and Catholic Business Network of Montgomery County. Jonathan’s a parishioner at Holy Redeemer in Kensington and is an active member of the Knights of Columbus, Rock Creek Council. Jon is a Native Washingtonian and attended East Carolina University, concentrating his studies in Business and Finance. Jonathan resides in Kensington, MD with his family and spends his spare time playing with his two children.

Robert P. Abel, CPA
Financial Consultant
Robert Abel, CPA is a financial consultant with the XML Financial Group. Mr. Abel has expertise in individual, business and estate tax and accounting issues. He helps clients pursue their investment objectives in a tax efficient manner. Mr. Abel is a Certified Public Accountant and is enrolled to practice before the IRS. Through LPL Financial he is an Investment Advisor Representative (Series 65), and a General Securities Representative (Series 7). Additionally he maintains a Resident Producer Individual Insurance license (Maryland Insurance Administration). He is a member of the American Institute for Certified Public Accountants (AICPA), Maryland Association of Certified Public Accountants (MACPA), National Association of Tax Preparers (NATP), and was elected to the Board of Directors of the Association of Practicing CPAs.

Education & Philanthropy
Mr. Abel received a Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics from the University of Maryland and continued his education there with a Master of Science degree in Computer Science. Mr. Abel furthered his education with an associate degree in Accounting from Montgomery College. Mr. Abel was a faculty member at James Madison University’s business school. Mr. Abel contributes to a number of charitable organizations with emphasis on Autism and Breast Cancer Research. He is also a contributor to Montgomery County Hospice.

Judith M. Tiktin, CPA
Financial Consultant
Judith is a CPA in private practice for 18 years in Silver Spring. Judith joined XML Financial Group to merge her financial services business, thereby enhancing the services available to her clients, and to those of the group.

Education & Philanthropy
Judith graduated from the University of Maryland with a Bachelor of Science degree in accounting, and went on to work in the tax department of Touche Ross (now Deloitte & Touche). It was at Touch Ross that she acquired experience and training in broad areas of taxation providing the foundation to start her own small accounting firm. Judith is a member of the Maryland Association of Certified Public Accountants and the Maryland Society of Accountants. Judith is an Investment Advisor Representative (Series 65) and also holds Series 6 and 63 securities registrations with LPL Financial. Judith is a supporter of The Hebrew Home of Greater Washington, The Whitman-Walker Clinic, Southern Poverty Law Center and numerous local organizations including the Police and Fire Departments.

Noorjahan “Noory” Enayat has been in the financial services industry since 2008, and is a Financial Consultant with Finigan Financial Services, LLC, now an XML Financial Group company. Her focus is on financial planning and maintaining the client-advisor relationship and communication flow. She conducts research on investment products as part of the firm’s due diligence practice, helps to drive asset allocation strategies, and analyzes client portfolios.

Ms. Enayat earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics from San Diego State University, continuing her studies in Economics through the American Economic Association’s Summer Training Program at the University of California Santa Barbara in 2008. She holds Series 7 and 66 securities registrations through LPL Financial. She also maintains Life, Health and variable annuity insurance licenses.
She is currently continuing her education in the financial planning field, completing the Executive Certificate in Financial Planning curriculum at Georgetown University to meet the requirements needed to sit before the Certified Financial Planners Board of Standards to obtain her CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER ™ (CFP®) designation.
Noory is a volunteer and member of Northern Virginia Family Services and Afghan-American Women’s Association (A-AWA). She also consults with the DC chapter Local Leader Trainer and board member of Children’s International Summer Villages (CISV), a non-profit member of a global organization dedicated to educating and inspiring for peace through building inter-cultural friendship, cooperation and understanding.

Director of Operations
Sue Harpe has been in the financial services industry for over 30 years. Prior to joining Finigan Financial Services LLC, now an XML Financial Group company, she was with Edelman Financial Services LLC as the Director of Compliance Supervision for 19 years. She serves in the capacity of Director of Operations, managing the day to day office functions as well as assisting with ensuring the organization is in compliance with securities regulations.

Ms. Harpe holds the Series 7, 63, 24 and 53 securities registrations through LPL Financial as well as Life, Health and variable annuity insurance licenses. She is a volunteer with Inova Blood Donor Services.

Natalie Gosselin
LPL Registered Administrative Associate
Natalie Gosselin has been in the financial services industry for nearly 10 years. Prior to joining XML Financial Group in 2009, Natalie worked at Morgan Stanley, supporting high net worth clients and Senior Financial Advisors. As the front line Senior Registered Administrative Associate, Natalie strives to always provide clients with high quality, timely, professional and personable service. She is a key component in addressing the needs of XML’s clients. Natalie has Series 7 and 66 Securities Registrations (held with LPL Financial). Natalie grew up in Baltimore and lives in Olney with her husband.

Education & Philanthropy
Prior to coming into the finance field, Natalie earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Business and Economic from McDaniel College (formally Western Maryland College) and continued her education at New York University. She is an active participant of the Junior League of Washington, serving most recently at a board member and committee chair of Bright Beginnings Inc. Bright Beginnings Inc. was started by Junior League in 1991 to address the critical need for child care for homeless families in DC. Since then, Bright Beginnings has met the needs of nearly 1,700 homeless children by providing families with developmental childcare and on-site therapeutic and family support services. Natalie worked to lead the committee for 4 years through their largest fundraiser and 5k event.

Robyn Crossan
LPL Financial Registered Administrative Associate
Robyn Crossan has worked in the financial services industry for more than 13 years. Prior to joining XML Financial Group in 2015, she was a registered assistant with Strategic Financial Associates, LLC, a wealth management company. Robyn provides outstanding client customer service as well as client relationship management skills. She holds the series 7 and 63 securities registrations through LPL Financial. She also maintains a life and health insurance license. Robyn lives in Gaithersburg, Md.

Robyn attended Montgomery College in Germantown, Maryland.

Administrative Associate
Gina Neild joined XML Financial Group as an Administrative Associate in 2005. Mrs. Neild performs administrative and office support activities as well as is the lead associate for Kevin Peters of XML Insurance Group handling Life Insurance, Disability Insurance and Long-Term Care Insurance applications. Prior to joining XML, Gina worked for the New Zealand Police in the administration department for 7 years. In 1987, Mrs. Neild joined the Finance Industry working for Jordan Sandman Smythe/JB Were New Zealand, where she worked until moving to the United States in 2003.

Education & Philanthropy
Mrs. Neild has been very active in fundraising for the Wootton High School lacrosse team as well as an active volunteer for their Patrons of the Arts Program. She regularly volunteers for the Westleigh swim team and participates in the light the night walk in Rockville for Leukemia & Lymphoma Society & Jeremy’s Run held to benefit the Partnership at Gina lives in North Potomac with her husband and two sons.

Administrative Associate
Prior to joining XML, Lisa Golden managed the staff of a temporary employment agency for five years. Most recently, she was a buyer for a women’s clothing boutique. As the mother of three, Lisa will put her years of experience in time management, scheduling and organization to keep the XML staff and office running smoothly. Lisa handles our incoming calls, client scheduling and day-to-day office duties. You’ll see her smiling face at the front desk when you stop by the office. Lisa lives in Potomac, MD.

Lisa attended Tulane University in New Orleans, LA and graduated with a BA in psychology.

Mike Finigan serves as Client Services Associate for Finigan Financial Services, LLC, now an XML Financial Group company. He provides support to clients through the preparation of account documents, the transfer of client assets and addressing a myriad of client needs as necessary.

Education & Philanthropy
Mike holds a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from the University of San Francisco. He holds the Series 7 securities registration through LPL Financial and is studying for his Series 66.
