E. Ronald Lara, CFP® is the Founder of Lara, May & Associates, LLC. He is a seasoned, Senior Wealth Advisor with over 40 years of financial, brokerage, tax and investment planning experience. His expertise centers around incorporating clients’ tax considerations with comprehensive financial planning. Striving to supply the tools required to help individuals reach their goals, Ron co-created and service marked two powerful investment strategy processes: The Lifetime Success Solution® and The Retirement Success Solution®. These financial planning programs help clients create a base plan targeted towards achieving their goals. In 2011, Ron authored the book, The Retirement Success Solution & Lessons I Learned from the Past Bear Market, which details the necessary steps towards reaching one’s retirement goals, while also offering expertise based on Ron’s 40 plus years of investment management experience.
In 1981, Ron founded LMA as an independent broker/dealer and then investment advisor. The firm was based on Ron’s focus and determination to help clients create and implement a plan to address their lifetime financial goals. Specializing in tax efficient strategies to maximize wealth, Ron has developed a client base that extends multi generations and across the country. In 1977, he proudly was among the earliest CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNERTM professionals in the Washington, D.C. area. In 2007 LMA became a partner firm with Focus Financial Partners.
Ron received nomination by industry peers in Northern Virginia Magazine’s 2014 – 2019 Top Financial Professionals list. Areas of focus include; Retirement planning and investment management, Tax efficient strategies and Charitable planning.
Ron is a graduate of the University of Maryland with a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering. Following his graduation, he served as Assistant District Engineer for Humble Oil and Refining Company until 1969. He then served in the United States Army from 1969 until 1971. After his military service, Ron moved back to the Washington, D.C. area to begin his career in the financial services industry. His numerous charitable affiliations have included memberships on the Board of Directors for the Fairfax Library Foundation, Claude Moore Colonial Farm at Turkey Run. He is currently on the board of the Joe Gibbs’ Youth for Tomorrow (YFT) organization. Ron is a native of the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area. He is married with five children and eight grandchildren. In his free time Ron enjoys skiing, tennis and attempting golf. Ask him about heli-skiing.
